For the record, I was something of a dissenter on Adu's Cup chances prior to the January camp. Freddy potentially brings something to the US side that isn't in huge supply: an explosive off the bench option in midfield who can dribble at tired defenders and gain a free kick or two. Arena probably wanted to gauge his progress in this camp with that role in mind, but it quickly became obvious that he wasn't going to make the team; Arena made some pretty unequivocal comments to that effect a couple of weeks back.
